The world of IoT is exploding! And so is the number of devices becoming available.
The industry focus up till now has been – and still is – on the capabilities and connectivity of individual products, including sensors, hubs, and other devices. Soon enough will come the realization that we will need to manage them.
That’s where Ritc comes in. With its ability to connect to any device that offers a REST interface, Ritc facilitates the ability to extract value from the data generated by these devices.
Some applications:
The examples below may help to illustrate the power of this new type of application.
Through its new Open Data initiative, London, UK, makes alerts of ‘Street Disruptions’ – among other things – available. Ritc rules could be written to react to these alerts in intelligent ways, sending targeted messages to the appropriate authorities – local and otherwise.
Rules such as:
Intrusion detection can be initiated by motion detectors installed in new kinds of vents being manufactured. So ‘point solutions’ for situations such as this, exist.
Ritc adds leverage by having the ability to aggregate data from multiple smart homes, combining this information with, say, local burglary statistics. This allows a ‘bigger picture’ view, and is facilitated by Ritc’s ability to integrate with multiple REST APIs.
You offer a robot that incorporates at least one microcontroller, and houses, amongst other things, a camera. The microcontroller, which has software to talk to the camera, can connect to the cloud via a REST API. Your customers may use multiple robots to perform some useful task. Ritc can provide the ‘control layer’ which allows an operator to manage your fleet of robots via the cloud, with actions such as ‘start camera scan’, etc.
Ritc could also potentially reside in the microcontroller in the robot, and employ rules to react to conditions in the robot. For example, rules grouped as an ‘app’ could cater to one aspect of the robot’s behavior – eg. collision detection.
